degewo is Berlin's leading housing association. With approximately 76,000 apartments owned by the company, more than 6,000 owned by third parties and around 1,100 employees, we are one of the largest and highest-performing housing associations in Germany. Our properties are located throughout all the districts of Berlin and our focus is on growth. We are constantly improving our service and we invest in new construction, maintaining our properties and in innovative solutions in the fields of energy and infrastructure. As a municipal housing association, we take responsibility for Berlin and its residents.

Building more housing is a key task in the growing metropolis of Berlin. We will increase our portfolio by 1,500 apartments annually until 2021, mainly through new construction but also through acquisition. Thanks to public demand, we can offer half of these newly constructed properties for an average net rent excluding utility costs of €6.50/m² and the other half for below €10/m² excluding utility costs on average. We are setting a new direction: due to higher efficiency in planning and construction, building costs are reduced and new opportunities arise for more new buildings and affordable rents. The founding of our own planning office bauWerk in 2015 and new cooperation with selected architecture firms and independent experts in the "degewo community" are key milestones of this new direction. We build energy-efficient apartments in liveable neighbourhoods to meet the demand – because Berlin must remain affordable for all.

Mehr Wohnungsbau ist eine zentrale Aufgabe in der wachsenden Metropole Berlin. Größtenteils durch Neubau, aber auch durch Zukauf vergrößern wir unseren Bestand bis 2021 jährlich um 1.500 Wohnungen. Die Hälfte dieser Neubauten können wir Dank öffentlicher Forderung im Durchschnitt für 6,50 €/m² Nettokaltmiete anbieten. Die andere Hälfte für durchschnittlich unter 10 €/m² Nettokaltmiete. Wir gehen neue Wege: Durch höhere Effizienz beim Planen und Bauen werden Baukosten gesenkt, neue Spielräume für mehr Neubauten und bezahlbare Mieten entstehen. Die Gründung des eigenen Planungsbüros bauWerk im Jahr 2015 und eine neue Zusammenarbeit mit ausgewählten Architekturbüros und unabhängigen Experten in der „Gemeinschaft degewo“ sind die Meilensteine dieses neuen Weges. Wir bauen bedarfsgerechte und energieeffiziente Wohnungen in lebenswerten Quartieren – weil Berlin für alle bezahlbar bleiben muss.
