The Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) is one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world. Mercedes-Benz Arena
Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin is the main stage in the German Capital for Sports and Entertainment. It provides a capacity of up to 17,000 fans including 1,000 premium club seats, 55 luxury suites private restaurants, clubs and hospitality spaces in addition to a full array of the most modern amenities. Since its opening in 2008 the Mercedes-Benz Arena has become a must-play-venue and already welcomed over 10 million fans to events such as Metallica, Coldplay, Barbara Streisand, U2, Rammstein, Madonna, Rihanna, Depeche Mode, as well as the MTV European Music Awards and the German Music Awards, NHL Premiere, NBA Pre-season Basketball, Euroleague Final Four and several World Championship boxing events. Anchor tenants are multiple National Champions ALBA Berlin basketball and Eisbären Berlin ice-hockey. Since the 1st of July 2015 Mercedes-Benz is Naming Rights Partner of the venue.
Mercedes Platz
In Berlin AEG has committed 190 million Euros to the development of Mercedes Platz. Situated right in front of the Mercedes-Benz Arena the development will be featuring a music hall with a capacity of around 4.000, a state-of-the-art UCI movie theatre with 2.500 Seats, a lifestyle bowling concept by Bowling World with 28 lanes, 10-15 cafés, restaurants and bars as well as two hotels – one Indigo Design Hotel with 125 rooms by the Intercontinental Hotel Group and one Hampton by Hilton with 254 rooms.
Mercedes Platz will become the vibrant center for the dynamically growing urban quarter alongside the world famous East Side Gallery which focuses on entertainment and leisure, sports and culture, while also offering excellent opportunities for trade, hotel, food and beverage services and housing with an expected footfall of 20 Million people annually.
The Mercedes-Benz Sales Division Germany and Zalando with their headquarters as well as a Holiday Inn Hotel are already tenants on the site. Two high rise apartment buildings with 450 apartments and an office building are currently under construction. In addition Zalando recently announced the development of a 100.000 square-meter company-campus and the East Side Mall shopping center will break ground next to the arena this year.
